About this quotes website

This website is the hobby & passion of one guy, me, Stuart Hodgson. I just wanted to share with others some of the useful snippets of wisdom that I have come across and have helped improve and shape my life. I hope they can have a similar effect on you!

Is this site just 'another' one of those quotes sites that contain every quote imaginable?

In a word, no. The quotes on this website have been selected and chosen to compliment each other - and from a general point of view each section aims to help us all 'Live Better' (hence the name of the website!), whether that is making us happier, more knowledgeable & wise, more motivated,  more healthier or more willing to try and improve the world around. So if your looking for a website which is more like an encyclopedia of every quote out there - then this isn't one of those. But if you are interested in trying to improve your life and living better, then this website might just be interesting to you!

Why does the website contain mostly  quotes?

 You could say quotes have the highest wisdom density you can get in a single sentence. And when time is precious in this busy life - you may as well get straight to the point and quotes do exactly that - get to the point in one single statement. 

Because the site is aiming to open up and stimulate lots of new ways of thinking, then quotes can do this in quite a manageable way that doesn't involve lots of reading. Although some quotes may seem, in hindsight, obvious and simple observations about life, the truth is that it requires a lot of insight, experience, and a very wise person, to be able to form a great quote by putting those reality bites in such accessible format. As Albert Einstein, (definitely good for a quote or two), once said, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."  So those who really understand something, are often able to provide a powerful, yet simple quote. And it's this understanding which the site is aiming to get across.

As well as a fascination with quotes, the site is also dedicated to a love of philosophy too, in the original sense of the word. Because philosophy as a term originated from the greek 'philos sophia' - which means 'love of wisdom'. So combining quotes and philosophy is precisely what this site is dedicated too – A love of wisdom, expressed through quotes!. (well this simple layman's version of it! I'm making no claims to be a wise person here! :-)

Who created this website?

As mentioned, this site is the work of one guy, me, Stuart Hodgson, who just so happens to enjoy collecting quotes that reflect life's experiences, insights and challenges. I'm making no claims to being a wise person! but I guess I'm on a lifelong path to wisdom and I like to document my findings! I'm just a regular bloke really, living a pretty normal life in the UK (Nort-East England), finding his way through life, trying to make the most out of life, and trying to live by and implement the wisdom I come across and have highlighted through these quotes (let me tell you it's easier said than done - and it takes work to form new mental habits - it's a work in progress!). 

I also happen to know how to work a computer, have a bit of an eye for design (I'm a freelance graphic designer), and I like to share stuff online that I do or come across, and if that stuff is of use to others - then that will do me! – There is no point keeping stuff to yourself when it may be of use to others eh?

Most people define themselves by their job (there's a lot more to me than my job) - but I earn a living as a graphic designer (I'm lucky to have had the opportunities to be able to make a living from something i love, I also work hard at it mind!). As a designer I turn my hand to pretty much anything, with my work covering print, web & email. If you need a designer - bear me in mind :-)
